How To Create Movie, Theatre Or Play Background
With PolyTech Polyurethane Portable Spray Foam Kits
Polyurethane foam is an ideal material for creating backgrounds for movies, theatre
or play. The foam kits are self contained. All necessary tools and accessories are
included with the kit. The end user can initiated the project by simply connect
the dual hoses to the Resin-A and Resin-B cylinders. The mixed resins expand and
cure fast. The two pound density foam is light in weight. It will be relatively
easy to move a large foam structure around. The possible background that can be
created is only limited to end users' imaginations. Changing scenes are easy by
simply knocking down the current one and replace it with a new setting.
A rough guideline for creating movie, theatre or play background with spray foam:
- Create a preliminary support framework of the background with lumbers (1"x1"s).
- Staple cardboards onto the preliminary framework.
- Attach chicken wires on top of the cardboard.
- Define an approximate shape of the desired background by adjusting the shape
of the attached chicken wires.
- Spray foam onto the chicken wired structure.
- By applying thin layers, build up the contours of the desired background.
- When foam achieve full rise, refine the shape of the structure with gloved hands.
- Apply desire colors to the background. End user can use either spray paint or latex
paint.
- In area where the background serves structural functions, such as for sitting or
walking on, stronger lumber support
should be designed and built-in before the application of foam. The 2 lb density
cured foam is relatively strong. It
can support weight of up to 275 pounds with a 4" thickness foam slab.
